Dear Robert,

I served in the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for fifteen years and under four Attorneys General, and I believe I know what makes a great Attorney General: leadership, vision, management skills, but above all a commitment to freedom and to the Constitution of Virginia. Virginia is blessed this year to have such a man running for Attorney General. Mark Obenshain possesses the leadership and management skills and the dedication to liberty to make a truly outstanding Attorney General. But don’t just take my word for it. Consider what these other OAG leaders have to say:

Jerry Kilgore, Former Attorney General: “I have known Mark Obenshain for more than 30 years. No one will bring more experience, more professionalism, and more passion for our principles to the office of Attorney General than Mark Obenshain.”

Richard Cullen, Former Attorney General: I have known Mark Obenshain for over 25 years and have watched him become one of Virginia's strongest conservative voices. Add that conservatism to his recognized legal talent and we have a winning candidate! He will be a strong Attorney General working side by side with Governor Cuccinelli.

William Hurd, Former Solicitor General of Virginia: “Having spent much of my legal career in the Office of the Attorney General, I know what it takes to serve as Virginia’s top legal officer. Mark Obenshain has the experience, the legal talent and the leadership skills to be a great Attorney General. And, like his father, he is a proven conservative who will keep his promises to Virginia.”

Chuck James, Former Chief Deputy for AG Ken Cuccinelli: “As former Chief Deputy to Ken Cuccinelli, I know what it takes to run the Attorney General's office. Mark Obenshain has the experience and skills to continue the tradition of strong leadership.”

Bernard McNamee, Former Chief Counsel to AG Jerry Kilgore: “I have had the privilege of working with Mark Obenshain on the transition team for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and working with him as a State Senator in Richmond. Mark Obenshain is the best candidate to be our next Attorney General. He has a keen legal mind, a passion for Virginia and nearly two decades of managing skilled attorneys. There is no doubt that with Mark Obenshain as Attorney General we will not only have an advocate for freedom on our side, but we also will have an effective and well managed Office of the Attorney General.”

Lawrence Muir, Former Assistant Attorney General: “I spent almost five years working as a prosecutor in the Office of the Attorney General. I prosecuted people that trafficked in child exploitation images. Mark Obenshain has helped lead the fight against child predators as a state senator. He has given the tools needed to combat these crimes to prosecutors and law enforcement officers. I am completely confident that he will carry forward the Office's national reputation for success in combating predators and fighting against trafficking of young women in Virginia.”

Those who have served in the Office of the Attorney General agree: Mark Obenshain is the right man to serve as our next Attorney General.

With his 26 years of experience as a lawyer, has handled more than one hundred constitutional cases in US District Courts, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is an experienced litigator, a skilled advocate, and a strict constructionist. Never before in history have our liberties been so tested. From our Second Amendment rights to our Right to Work laws, those who would erode our freedom are on the march. Mark Obenshain will stand with us in defense of our liberties against all foes and in all forums. He has proven he can win these battles in the past, and he will win them again.

We need Mark Obenshain for times such as these. Please join me in supporting our next Attorney General!

Yours in Liberty,
David E. Johnson
Deputy Attorney General, 2002-2012
