Issue*Matic -- something new from vpap.org

The General Assembly moves so fast that even those who tread the Capitol's marble halls sometimes have difficulty making sense of it all.

Today, the nonprofit Virginia Public Access Project launches Issue*Matic, a new tool designed to make the General Assembly more transparent for everyone -- from Capitol insiders to concerned citizens watching from afar.

With Issue*Matic, you can select a topic that matters to you (such as “uranium” or “home schooling”) and get a list of every related bill introduced this session. Issue*Matic also provides a list of relevant newspaper articles on each topic, making it easy to stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

With 16 years of experience bringing transparency to money in Virginia politics, VPAP is taking its first steps to organize information about the legislative process. We're still working out the bill indexing system. Please feel free to suggest a topic. Your feedback is always appreciated.

Issue*Matic is made possible by companies and individuals that invest in VPAP’s mission of greater transparency in Virginia politics.

VPAP also would like to acknowledge the staff of the Division of Legislative Automated Systems for making its data available and RichmondSunlight for its trail blazing use of LIS information.

The nonprofit Virginia Public Access Project is dedicated to transparency in Virginia politics. At VPAP, we believe that government works best when citizens have access to timely, fact-based information.
