Victoria Cobb, President Monday, January 30, 2012   Action Alert: Become Part of a Historic Pro-Life Moment   If you’ve been keeping up with the Virginia General Assembly, you celebrated with us Thursday as the Senate Education and Health committee on an 8-7 vote, passed a pro-life bill – the first significant pro-life bill to receive a favorable report from that committee in nine years!  Patroned by Senator Jill Vogel (R-27, Winchester) and Senator Ralph Smith (R-19, Roanoke), SB 484 requires an ultrasound to be performed prior to an abortion and offers the woman the opportunity to view it if she so chooses.   Now that bill will be voted on in the full Senate.   Please contact your Senator and urge him or her to vote YES on SB 484!   We stand amazed at the work God has done to achieve what last year seemed to be the impossible – it all started with the November 2011 election, then Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling’s tie breaking vote in the Senate which set up a favorable pro-life committee, and on through the vote that took place yesterday.  But the story does not end there.  Our celebration yesterday is still a bit premature as SB 484 must yet overcome its next hurdle – passage on the full Senate floor.    The Family Foundation is cautiously optimistic that SB 484 will pass as it already has bi-partisan support with two democrat co-patrons signed on, Senators Chuck Colgan (D-29, Manassas) and Phil Puckett (D-38, Tazewell).  However, between now and then, you can be sure that NARAL and Planned Parenthood will do all they can to chip away at our bi-partisan support.  That is why we need your help.  The vote on SB 484 is scheduled to take place shortly after noon tomorrow.  Time is of the essence; please contact your senator today.   Thank you in advance for being a part of the preservation of life in our Commonwealth.   ACTION: Please contact your Senator by clicking the link below and urge him or her to vote in favor of SB 484.  Click the link below to log in and send your message: http://www.votervoice.net/link/target/vaff/rPENc97c.aspx You have received this message because you have subscribed to a mailing list of The Family Foundation of Virginia.
