Why?

Friends,

As I meet voters door to door, I am starting to be asked one question with frequency.

"Why would you want to run for office?"

I understand where the question comes from, with the atmosphere in Washington DC, the mean and personal negative attacks that accompany political campaigns, and the popular opinion of elected officials seeming to hit new lows again and again, why would anyone volunteer for that job?

For me, the answer is pretty simple.

I do it because it is my duty to sacrifice for a greater good and leave behind a place better than I found. I believe in Virginia and America. I didn't have advantages of a wealthy family or connections. I was raised by a single mother and I matured through the help of a Big Brother volunteer. I started a small business and learned what it takes to create jobs, experienced failure, and experienced success. I know the value of education and am a lifelong learner, working now toward a degree from Harvard University.

As a former Navy SEAL, I understand the value of sacrifice, readiness, preparation, bravery and honor. What helped us risk the ultimate sacrifice were those whom we stood shoulder to shoulder with. We knew our cause was right, we were fighting for those who couldn't fight for themselves, and we were all in it together. So, why am I running for Delegate?

To fight for you, because we are all in this together.
