Dear E.W. Jackson volunteers and supporters,
Before you begin reading, you need to know that no one on E.W. Jackson’s campaign staff, not even E.W. himself, has seen or knows about the email you are about to read. Its message and contents are mine and mine alone. If I am called on the carpet for sending it, so be it. I am prepared to accept whatever may come my way. I am in this campaign for one reason, and one reason only—to see E.W. Jackson become the next Lt. Governor of Virginia. I only ask that you read it in its entirety and take its message to heart.
Now to the reason for my email, beginning with a question:
Are you ready to throw in the towel? Tired of making phone calls and knocking doors? Have recent polls taken the wind out of your sails? If this describes you, I have good news! With less than twenty-one days remaining until Election Day, we still have plenty of time to achieve a Republican sweep in the Virginia gubernatorial race, but only if we don’t succumb to weariness and give up.
If you are tired, I’m right there with you. This is my first political campaign. I’ve been putting in 14-16-hour days, seven days a week since April. Most nights my head doesn’t hit the pillow before 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM in the morning. And if that’s not reason enough to be weary, by the time I joined E.W.’s campaign this past April I had already been unemployed for eighteen months, daily fending off a constant stream of phone calls from creditors and an angry landlord. By the time I stepped onto the political gridiron I was physically and emotionally depleted. Am I looking for sympathy or applause? Others who know me will attest to my aversion for drawing attention to myself or my accomplishments; that’s for God and others to do. I am only doing it now to drive home a point.
First, turn off the local news and stop paying heed to opinion research polls. Both tend to be skewed in favor of Democratic candidates and many times are meant to discourage folks like you and me who are trying to effect genuine change for the good. Whether we like it or not, dispiriting patriotic Americans like you and me IS the mainstream media’s raison d'être. So stop exposing yourself to the constant stream of lies and spin or you’ll grow discouraged and eventually become a casualty to the campaign. Instead, pray and leave the results to God. When you wake up in the morning and throughout each day ask God to reinvigorate you with fresh energy, enthusiasm, and a passion to fight on until the polls close on Election Day. In fact, take time to encourage one another; none of is immune to discouragement from time to time.
Second, I’ve heard from a few of you that you plan to abstain from voting for Governor to protest Ken Cuccinelli’s cautionary disposition toward E.W. Jackson during the early days of the campaign. Bad idea! No, stupid idea! How will we keep Obamacare from taking root in Virginia with McAuliffe wielding the veto pen? Will McAuliffe stand up for Virginians’ First and Second Amendment rights? Will he fight for the unborn or against Federal funding of abortion? Or, will he be a White House lackey by signing countless executive orders? Will he invite Federal military intervention in Virginia if circumstances deteriorate under his leadership? I don’t mean to cast aspersions on Freddy Krueger, but think of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” as a metaphor for a McAuliffe Governorship. Bad dreams end when we wake up, but there’s no waking up from “A Nightmare on East Broad Street” in Richmond. Virginia will be decimated. We MUST vote for Governor and vote for Ken!
Are you burned out? Every day in America one of our Military Veterans commits suicide because of battlefield-induced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We owe it to them and to every Military Veteran who has ever fought and in some cases paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms, to fight on as hard as we can for as long as we can until victory is won. If we give up now or grow slack in our commitment, we cede our state and our children’s future to despotism.
On May 26, 1940, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill ordered Operation Dynamo to commence in an ambitious plan to evacuate thousands of Allied troops stranded between the advancing German army and the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France. The rescue ‘armada’ of 860 boats, included Royal Navy ships and the legendary “little ships of Dunkirk” who’s civilian crews had been pressed into service for the mission. In the end, 338,226 Allied troops (98,229 British and 139,997 French) were ferried safely to England. Eight days later Winston Churchill delivered his famous “We shall fight on the beaches” address in the British House of Commons. I believe there is a message in Churchill’s speech for all who have been pouring themselves out to help our candidate win on November 5.
Even though large parts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.
What choice do we have but to fight on? Many of us are weary, but not half as weary as we will be if we lose this election and the full impact of Barack Obama’s statist agenda is felt across the Commonwealth. Churchill’s words are as relevant to our circumstance today as they were in 1940.
I would encourage you during the next 24 hours, to spend some time alone and ask yourself if you have done everything in your power to keep Virginia sovereign and free for future generations. There is more at stake in this election than bragging rights on the Governor’s Mansion. Contemplate the serious consequences of defeat on Election Day. Then ask God for strength, encouragement, and the energy to fight on in the days leading up to the election. I KNOW we can and will win with full reliance on the help of Divine Providence.
I welcome your thoughts and feedback! Thanks for all you have done thus far. May God richly bless you!
Bill
