February 8, 2012 LEGISLATORS REPORT PERSONAL GIFTS/TRIPS Members of the 2012 General Assembly accepted almost a quarter million dollars worth of free meals, tickets to athletic events, trips and other freebies last year, according to legislators' annual disclosure forms. Virginia Uranium accounted for nearly half the total dollar amount by spending $120,000 to take legislators -- many accompanied by spouses -- on fact-finding trips to Canada and France. Read More and View Gifts... CONGRESSIONAL REDISTRICTING VPAP's overlay maps show changes to Virginia's 11 congressional districts. The General Assembly is considering legislation to delay congressional primaries from June to August. The extra time may be needed for federal approval of the districts and the resolution of litigation challenging the legislature's authority to draw the new lines after failing to do so last year. TOP OFFICIALS DISCLOSE PERSONAL FINANCES Last week VPAP posted the annual disclosure of personal finances by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. Gov. McDonnell reported $44,000 in taxpayer-funded trips, including three overseas trade missions.
