CoLA 2012 SCORECARD: OPPOSE
LEGISLATORS' VOTES ON SCORECARD LEGISLATION ARE BEING RECORDED FOR FUTURE ELECTION VOTER GUIDES
If we don't kill all these bills we miss a chance to come back next year with an excellent Universal School Tax credit.
Please forward this request and call your representatives ASAP
SB 241 Tax credits; businesses providing assistance to low-income families, etc., in private schools.
This bill turns a scholarship program, to place kids in schools that still teach things like the Bill of Rights and Constitution, over to the Departments of Education and Social Welfare. Imagine the regulations and strings that would be attached to the money. Not to mention good schools who would not accept those students because of the strings attached. This is totally unacceptable. I'd like to know - Who is the genius that came up with this idea?
.
These last two bills are so weak the programs will go unnoticed and will have no chance to grow.
SB 131 Income tax, corporate; educational improvement scholarships credit.
HB 321 Income tax, state; educational improvement scholarships tax credits.
ON DOCKET : Fri. 7am ... PLEASE CALL ON THIS BILL FIRST
House Committee on Finance
Subcommittee #3
Date of Meeting: February 10, 2012
Time and Place: 7:30 a.m., 7th Floor West Conference Room, General Assembly Bldg.
.
The Tea Party Federation's CoLA committee has been OPPOSED to these bills from the minute they were proposed and working to get them killed or replaced with a good program.
CoLA does not support any special-interest tax credits as they pick winners and losers and result in a tax increase for everyone else. We do support a universal school tax credit available to everyone and one which is 100% tax deductible. There are much better school tax credit programs that have been wildly successful in other states which result in free market competition and a good option for parents. Why should Virginia settle for one of these bad proposals being considered in the 2012 GA?
