Historically he has served as a professional staff member on the Senate Armed Service Committee, served for four years as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy, and served as the Chairman of NATO's senior politico-milirary committee. Mr. Gaffney was appointed as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy by President Reagan.

Tea Party Victories - Tea Partiers helped stop Medicaid expansion in Tennessee. This was important because the Governor of Tennessee is chairman of the Republican Governors Association. An expansion in Tennessee would have meant more momentum for expansion in other states. Because we won, momentum was stopped and Wyoming killed Medicaid expansion a couple days later.
