Dear Robert Bruce, Did you read the Washington Post today? Normally, I wouldn't either, but one of today's articles is so stunning, I had to share it with you. Anti-gun State Delegate Mark D. Sickles (D-Fairfax) has issued a new threat to your Second Amendment rights and to the Constitution itself. He says he would use an Article V Convention to "whack away" at your rights. As quoted by the Washington Post, Sickles said: “There’s a lot of problems with this Constitution. I’ll just get up to this convention and start whacking away.” Robert Bruce, that is exactly the kind of fire Republicans are playing with. Our anti-gun enemies are waiting with bated breath to gut our most cherished freedoms from the Constitution. And they don't particularly care how or why a Convention is called, or what our friends intend to get out of it. Literally hundreds of radical anti-gun groups, including groups backed by George Soros, are already behind the concept of an Article V Convention. They're out to rewrite our founding document in their image from the ground up. But don't take my word for it. In states where Democrats control the legislature, you'll find lawmakers are working on their Article V wish-list too. Here's an example from Hawaii, HCR-114 (2012). Guess what's on the top of their agenda: Robert Bruce, repealing or modifying the Second Amendment is just the tip of the iceberg of what could happen if an Article V Constitutional Convention is called. That's because it won't be grassroots leaders, intent on reigning in the federal governments overreach, who get to call the shots. It's far more likely to be controlled by elitist anti-gun politicians from both parties, and the billionaire-lobbyists hell-bent on exerting their own influence. And if that's the case, Delegate Sickles is on board. ". . . if we have one, I want to be a delegate,” Sickles said. The truth is, no self-proclaimed "expert" has any idea what will happen at a convention if one is called. But if the idea of handing anti-gun delegates like Sickles a hammer to "whack away" at your Constitutional Rights scares you, I hope you'll take action. Votes on the four resolutions, HJ 499, HJ 497, SJ 252 and SJ 269 are still pending in both the State Senate and State House. Your immediate action is vital. Please call your lawmakers. Call your Delegate and urge them to oppose HJ 497 and HJ 499. Then call your Senator and urge them to oppose SJ 252 and SJ 269. Even if you already called them, please call them again. If you don't know who your lawmakers are, you can look them up by entering your address here. Thank you for taking immediate action and for all you do.
