Thought for the day: "I am a gun. I am fallen into the dirt wherever brave warriors die. I rest beside their bodies. I am stained with their blood. I am covered by their battle helmets. Planted with my bayonet in the soil, I stand as a battlefield cross, a simple but poignant memorial for their sacrifice." From "I am a gun" by R. G. Yoho.

1. Reminder: VCDL President to speak at the Patrick Henry Supper Club meeting on March 5 in Richmond
******************************************************

I will be speaking at the Patrick Henry Supper Club on Tuesday, March 5. The meeting is open to the public.

Dinner will begin at 6 pm and I will speak at 7 pm.

The meeting is held in a private room at:

Major Willie's
115 South 15th Street
Richmond, VA 23219

******************************************************
2. Loudoun County to vote on improving discharge ordinance March 6
******************************************************

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors is going to consider expanding the areas in Loudoun where sporting clays can be shot. The meeting will begin at 6 PM.

Government Center, Board Room, 1st Floor
1 Harrison St, SE
Leesburg, VA 20175

If you live in Loudoun, click here to see the Board of Supervisor members and contact information:

3. ACTION ITEM: Vote in this poll on who you support for Lt. Governor!
******************************************************

In the next couple of days, VCDL will be sending out Candidate Surveys to all the candidates running for statewide office (Governor, Lt Governor, and Attorney General).

Until the survey results are in, you can voice your preference for the candidates in various polls without the benefit of their survey answers. Right now, Jeannemarie "Close the Gun Show Loophole & Bloomberg puppet" Davis is in the lead in the following poll:

******************************************************
4. Off to a good start on Moran protest RSVPs!
******************************************************

We currently have over 30 people who are planning on attending Representative Jim Moran's "Gun Violence Forum". That's a good start, but we can always use more people with the GSL stickers in the audience.

For those who may have missed it, here is the action item again:

Anti-liberty, gun-grabber Representative Jim Moran is holding a "Gun Violence" forum on Monday, March 11th. The panel is packed with gun-haters (three of them are from the Brady Campaign and Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, for starters). It's supposed to be a "conversation" about gun violence, but I know better than that. I think propaganda-fest is more appropriate.

Let's pack the audience with people wearing Guns Save Lives stickers to remind everyone in attendance that more gun control is NOT going to save any lives and will only further endanger the law abiding!

NOTE: The event is going to be held at a high school, so you'll have to leave any handguns in your vehicle unloaded and encased. However, folding knives with blades shorter than 3 inches are legal in a school under Virginia law.

The "Gun Violence" farce, er, forum is from 7 PM to 9 PM on March 11 and is going to be held at:

Washington-Lee High School
1301 N. Stafford Street
Arlington, VA 22201

We will be handing out GSL stickers out front of the school.

**If you are planning on attending, respond to this email and let me know. I want a rough idea how many we are going to have in attendance**

5. James City County censoring pro-gun message from Sheriff Deeds
******************************************************

Pro-gun sheriff Deeds of James City County had a statement that he would uphold the Second Amendment and protect County residents from unconstitutional acts posted on the County web site.

The James City County Board of Supervisors voted to have that statement removed!!!

VCDL is not going to take such anti-American baloney lying down.

Once I get more information on when the Board of Supervisors next meeting is going to be held, I will have an action item. Looks like James City County VCDL members need to pay the Board of Supervisors a visit.

******************************************************
6. Time is running out - become a delegate to pick good candidates for upcoming primaries
******************************************************

If you are sick and tired of having poor candidates to vote for, you have a way to fix that. As a delegate to the Republican state convention on May 17th, you would hold a lot of power in your hands. Time has just about run out, so if you want to do this, ACT NOW!

The procedure to become a delegate to the convention can be found:

The date by which you have to submit your application to become a delegate to the convention from your locality can be found at:

******************************************************
7. Will Bill Bolling be a spoiler in the Governor's race?
******************************************************

If pro-gun Republican Bill Bolling runs as an independent candidate for Governor this year, there is a serious chance that pro-gun Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Bolling might split the pro-gun vote, allowing for an easy win by anti-gun Democrat Terry McAuliffe. I don't know why Bill Bolling would do such a thing, although he has to be miffed that Cuccinelli cut in line in front of him to run for the Governor's seat.

There is a good chance that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg might spend lots of money in Virginia to make the Governor's race go in the direction that he wants it to go.

8. Video of Thursday's VCDL meeting with Emily Miller now posted
******************************************************

Thanks to EM Ed Levine for posting the video of last Thursdays membership meeting in NoVA. A lot of people requested this video. We had a PACKED HOUSE with between 150 and 160 attendees!

12. Tips on rape prevention in a gun-free-zone from University of Colorado: pee on yourself and throw up!
******************************************************

Safest way to protect yourself from rape is to be armed with a gun. Hands down. But for the anti-liberty crowd who routinely urinates on themselves and throws up at the thought of a woman lawfully carrying a gun, that is something to be scorned. So they have these suggestions to offer on how to stop a rape instead. Hint: follow their lead and urinate on yourself and throw up!

******************************************************
13. Professor John Lott to speak in Sterling on March 7th
******************************************************

The speech is titled, "More Guns, Less Crime - understanding crime and gun control laws."

It will be held on Thursday, March 7, 7:30 PM at:

Cascades Senior Center
21060 Whitfield Place
Sterling, VA 20165

It is open to the public and admission is free.

******************************************************
14. Are our Vets being disarmed?
******************************************************

I have reports of this happening in Virginia, too. If you know a veteran who has received a letter from the government telling him he can no longer own guns, get in touch with me.

******************************************************
15. A lot of money being spent to disarm us

16. Bluefield, WV gun show coming up - want to volunteer?
******************************************************

EM John Wilburn has arranged for VCDL to have a booth at the Bluefield, WV gun show THIS weekend. The relatively small show is just barely across the Virginia state line and has a large percentage of Virginia attendees.

If you would like to spend some time helping out, just drop by the booth!

Here is more information about the show:
