Cuccinelli Compass

Dear Fellow Virginians,

It’s been awhile since I sent out a Compass, so I thought I would take this opportunity to update you on our campaign for Governor.

Yesterday, Lt. Governor Bolling announced that he would not be running as an Independent for Governor. I want to thank Bill for his years of service to the people of Virginia and his dedication to making our Commonwealth a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Now that the field is set for the fall, there will be a clear contrast in the months ahead between Terry McAuliffe - a career Washington Insider and Democrat fundraiser – and myself. I believe that we need a Governor who is focused on solving the problems we face like implementing a comprehensive transportation plan that addresses our long-term needs, and fashioning pro-growth tax reform. Additionally, we need to strengthen our educational system for every student, create good private sector jobs here in Virginia and protect the ones we already have. That is what I will do as Virginia's next Governor.

We are also preparing for the State Convention coming up in Richmond on May 17th and 18th. Many localities have already elected Delegates and it looks like we are on track to have a larger convention than in 2009. If you are interested in becoming a Delegate, please visit www.RPVConvention.com for more information.

We have many strong candidates running for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General and the work of the Delegates at the RPV Convention is important to our success in November. We want to leave the convention united behind our party and our team and ready to win. That's why it is disappointing to hear rumors that there might be a divisive attempt at the convention to change the party plan to modify how future candidates are selected. Let me be clear - I oppose, and urge every Delegate to oppose, any changes to the party plan that alter nomination processes available to the party for selection, and I hope these rumors are simply unfounded.

This past weekend we officially opened campaign offices in Fredericksburg and Harrisonburg and we will be opening more in the weeks ahead.  I would like to ask you to help out and get involved by clicking here.

Finally, you may know I was not able to raise money for my campaign while the General Assembly was in session. My opponent did not have to follow the same rules and has a two-month fundraising lead. That’s why I need your help today. Your generous support of $25, $45, or even $75 will go a long way in helping me become our next Governor. The next campaign finance deadline is just two weeks away and I’d appreciate any support you could give between now and then.

I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!

Attorney General of Virginia
