"I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon me as Attorney General, according to the best of my ability (so help me God)."
Robert, that's the oath of office that Mark Herring took 12 days ago.
It didn't take him long to violate that oath.
Last night, Attorney General Herring announced that he would side with homosexual activists in their lawsuits challenging the marriage amendment, because he thinks it is unconstitutional.
With that, the Attorney General has declared war on marriage, the constitution and the very right of Virginians to have their say in our laws.
The Family Foundation promises to stand strong against this kind of overreach and abuse of power.

Last Fall, in the months leading up to the election, Herring repeatedly dodged questions about whether he would defend Virginia's marriage amendment. It seems he wasn't sure his answer would be popular with voters. Now that he's fooled enough of them into voting for him, he's shown his true colors.
Over the same time he repeatedly criticized his predecessor, Ken Cuccinelli, for "abuse of power in order to advance personal ambition and an extreme ideological agenda". Less than two weeks into his term, Herring has shown the extent of his hypocrisy. He has ignored the 57% of Virginians who voted for the marriage amendment in 2006 and circumvented the legal process by which the Constitution may be changed.
Attorney General Herring doesn't hold that process in high regard, preferring to let his personal opinion overrule the vote of Virginians. Which begs the question, what other laws will he decide he doesn't like?
Please click here to help us stop Attorney General Herring's shameless end-run around the Constitution and silencing of Virginians.
Thank you for standing with us!
