McGuire Introduces Resolution to make the fourth Wednesday in April “Career and Technical Education Letter of Intent Signing Day”.
RICHMOND, VA – Delegate John McGuire has introduced HB 475, which designates the fourth Wednesday in April as “Career and Technical Education (CTE) Letter of Intent Signing Day”.
“It’s important that students are provided every opportunity to succeed, as they leave our school system into higher education, the military, or entering their career. These students are future leaders in their communities, and our job is to help them transition from school to the workplace. “CTE Day”, in partnership with local businesses, gives them an excellent opportunity to learn about the options they have.” - Delegate John McGuire, Candidate for Virginia Senate District 10
“The Letter of Intent Signing Day”celebrates the accomplishments of students in CTE programs, and is a unique way to highlight the “value” CTE education provides. It also highlights the role and value that business partners add. This event has changed the perception of the value of CTE, not only to our students and parents, but the community at large. "We have had the pleasure of holding a Signing Day event in Hanover County Public Schools since the Spring of 2019. This event is always a wonderful opportunity to recognize and highlight our students, who are successfully entering careers related to their Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, upon graduation. It also allows us to recognize our many business partners, who are hiring our students and supporting our CTE programs. We are excited to celebrate the wide array of what success looks like for the students in our school division, and this event certainly affords us the opportunity to shine a light on students, who may not have been previously recognized for this path, and celebrate their many accomplishments.
