McGuire Introduces Legislation to Secure Elections
RICHMOND, VA – Delegate John McGuire has introduced HB 1693 to protect election integrity, by abolishing drop boxes in Virginia. Absentee ballot boxes were implemented, due to the pandemic, and in some instances may lack a foolproof chain of custody. Drop boxes are no longer needed as the COVID lockdowns are over.
“It’s important that every legal vote is counted in a free and fair election, and as of late, the relaxed voting laws in Virginia and across the nation have eroded a lot of the confidence people have in our election process. We will have to do far more to make everyone confident in their elections again, but removing these boxes, where many people have seen problems in chain of custody, will be a great the first step.” - Delegate John McGuire, Candidate for Virginia Senate District 10.
