FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the VPAP Whipple Report?
The VPAP Whipple Report is a free public service from the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project. Each weekday before sunrise, Paul Brockwell from the VPAP staff scours the online edition of more than 20 Virginia newspapers. Paul compiles articles about government and politics into an email, which arrives in your inbox by 7:30 a.m.

Each story appears with the headline and brief summary. Those who want to read more can click through to the full text of the article. Click here to view today's VPAP Whipple Report

Why is it called the "Whipple" Report?

Back in 1996, Tom Whipple, a retired CIA analyst from Arlington, got into the habit of emailing friends articles about Virginia politics. Word of this unique service spread, and Whipple's list grew to more than 2,000. Whipple "retired" in June 2011, and turned over the popular clipping service to VPAP.

What happens at the end of the trial period?
If you enjoy the clips, you can sign up to continue receiving the VPAP Whipple Report. It's a free service. If you do not wish to continue, no other action is required on your part.
