This week on the John Fredericks Show we discussed my Never Trumper opponent Bob Good voting with Virginia Democrats against a stand alone bill to help Israel after the horrific attacks where Hamas raped, burned, and killed hundreds including women and children on October 7. Hamas also took fellow Americans hostage. Note: This bill did not include funding for Ukraine. Speaker Mike Johnson along with all Virginia Republicans (except Good) Ben Cline, Morgan Griffith, Jen Kiggans, and Rob Wittman voted yes to stand with Israel in their fight against terrorists. The US has a longstanding commitment to support the Jewish state of Israel and now extreme Democrats like AOC are defending terrorist groups like Hamas rather than supporting our ally. Congress must act to overcome AOC and her progressive pro-Hamas cronies. Click here for the barn burner interview. Add your signature to his petition to run for Congress! Crossover 2024 Session Update Week 6 The General Assembly convened on January 10th. I am working hard with Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, and fellow legislators to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family. There are so many threats to Virginia: skyrocketing costs, the mess in our schools, the fentanyl streaming across the border. Will the Democrats help us solve these problems? We are at the halfway point of Virginia’s 2024 General Assembly session. Fellow Republicans are in the minority but fighting tooth and nail to protect your rights. The Democrats have the majority in both chambers and are trying to pass bills to raise the minimum wage, infringe on our second amendment rights by banning newly made "assault" semi automatic weapons, increase abortion access, release violent criminals, assist people with suicide, and allow recreational weed dispensaries. Click here Video one Click here Video Two SB 222 Cybersecurity Passes the Senate My bill SB 222 on cybersecurity has passed the Senate uncontested and is headed to the House. With cybersecurity threats on the rise, it is imperative we take action to secure our Commonwealth’s infrastructure.  SB 630 Dispatchers/ First Responders Passes the Senate My bill SB 630 to add law enforcement Dispatchers, including State Police Dispatchers, to the category of First Responders has passed the Senate uncontested and is headed to the House. SB 603 Priority Treatment Jailed Pregnant Women Passes the Senate My bill SB 603 to give incarcerated pregnant women preferential treatment for drug rehab programs has passed the Senate uncontested and is headed to the House. I have visited the women's jail in Goochland County and I've heard reports around the district about the challenges faced by pregnant women in jail to attend drug rehab programs. Incarcerated pregnant women (those held in federal or state prisons, jails, or juvenile detention facilities) make up one of the most vulnerable segments of society, with higher rates of mental illness, drug addiction, and histories of trauma than incarcerated men. This bill will create a work group to find answers on how to help rehabilitate young and not so young women with the triple threat of being incarcerated, being pregnant, and being addicted. I was happy to be there with Kirby Burch and many other fellow hunters! Our friend Ramona Christian, the Buckingham GOP Chair and volunteer coordinator for the Trump team, supports the Hunting Dog Community. Success, we defeated the Anti Dog Hunting Bill. The Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance, with Kirby Burch, the Chief Operating Officer, and many others worked hard to defeat SB 712, This bill was was killed on the Senate floor thanks to Lt.Gov Winsome Sears' tie breaking vote.
