Yesterday, the House passed SB517, a hateful, mean-spirited bill that singles out Southern Heritage historical groups. This bill sets the extraordinarily dangerous precedent of allowing government to weaponize tax policy and retaliate against non-profit organizations and groups simply because they represent viewpoints or people that run afoul of current government preferences. In what one columnist has called an act of "animus and revenge…always bad policies," the bill strips away longstanding state tax exemptions from historical and charitable organizations simply because they in some way have connections to the preservation of Southern heritage, most notably the United Daughters of the Confederacy. This bill passed the legislature with TWO Republican Delegates and TWO Republican Senators voting with democrats. | | House Bill 812 would stop future issuance and recall (after their current expiration) the General Robert E. Lee and Sons of Confederate Veterans license plates issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. This bill passed the Senate today with NO support from Republicans (a clear message to the governor), but FOUR Republicans did vote with democrats in the House of Delegates when it passed there earlier this month. | | Look for more info on the turncoats soon. The URGENT and immediate need TODAY is to contact Governor Youngkin and ask him to reject both of these attacks by democrats on our history, heritage, and first amendment rights. For Christ and the Confederacy, Susan Lee The Virginia Flaggers "It is out of fashion these days to look backward rather than forward. About the only American given to it is some unreconstructed Southerner, who persists in his regard for certain terrain, a certain history, and a certain inherited way of living."
