Happy Birthday Tracy!

Happy birthday to my wife, best friend, and much more Tracy McGuire. In addition to working on her real estate business, Tracy spent much of the day Friday with legislator spouses that included a trip to Safe Harbor in Henrico County, a trip to the Black History Museum, and a luncheon hosted by the First Lady Suzanne Youngkin at the Governors Mansion. I left our house 5am and spent most of the day at the General Assembly, alongside fellow Republican Senators, fighting to kill some egregious bills such as a bill to assist people with suicide. Bills like this in other communities have led to an increase in suicides. I voted no, life is a miracle and must be protected. After my SEAL Team PT workout that night, Tracy and I met up for a late dinner to celebrate her big day. Tracy, our dog Remi, and I are looking forward to Super Bowl weekend. Who will win?

BIG TRUMP WINS!

This was a Big week for Trump and democracy:

Unelected pro-Biden activists are trying to toss Donald J. Trump off the ballot in multiple states. But their weak arguments were rejected by every member of the U.S. Supreme Court this week -- a fact that even the New York Times admitted.

Then, yesterday, a Special Counsel appointed by Biden's Department of (In)Justice said that Biden is so mentally incapacitated that he couldn't stand trial.

Amazingly, Biden went out and addressed the nation last night to try and disprove the report. But he gave a feeble, confused speech -- and proved the Special Counsel right.

This is a sad, somber moment for America. Our commander-in-chief isn't functional.

We Need Trump!

We need TRUMP -- and Trump needs strong allies, not typical politicians who say one thing in public about Trump and a different thing about Trump in private like Bob Good (CNN Youtube video Click here).

Make no mistake, when it serves him, Good will betray Trump again. I am committed to the Make America Great Again MAGA movement!

2024 Session Update Week 5

The General Assembly convened on January 10th. I am working hard with Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, and fellow legislators to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family. There are so many threats to Virginia: skyrocketing costs, the mess in our schools, the fentanyl streaming across the border. Will the Democrats help us solve these problems?

2ND Amendment "Shall Not Be Infringed"

On Wednesday, I defended VA citizens’ gun rights on the Senate floor. I was glad to see local militias visit the Senate Chamber from Campbell County, Appomattox County, and others. Click here

SB 222 Cybersecurity Advances

My bill SB 222 on Cybersecurity has advanced to the Finance Committee. With cybersecurity threats on the rise, it is imperative we take action to secure our Commonwealth’s infrastructure.

SB 630 Dispatchers/ First Responders Advances

My bill SB 630 to add law enforcement Dispatchers, including State Police Dispatchers, to the category of First Responders has advanced to Finance. Click here to learn why this is so important.

SB 603 Priority Treatment Jailed Pregnant Women Advances

My bill SB 603 to give incarcerated pregnant women preferential treatment for drug rehab programs has advanced to the Finance Committee. I have visited the women's jail in Goochland County and I've heard reports around the district about the challenges faced by pregnant women in jail to attend drug rehab programs. Incarcerated pregnant women (those held in federal or state prisons, jails, or juvenile detention facilities) make up one of the most vulnerable segments of society, with higher rates of mental illness, drug addiction, and histories of trauma than incarcerated men. This bill will create a work group to find answers on how to help rehabilitate young and not so young women with the triple threat of being incarcerated, being pregnant, and being addicted.

HEAV Day at the Capitol

I introduced Home Schoolers on Home School Educators Association of Virginia Day at the Capitol. More than 57,000 students are being home schooled in Virginia. Click here

It was good to see Cliff Williamson, executive director of the Agribusiness Council, Susan Seward, of the Virginia Forest Group, and more at the capitol this week.

It was nice to visit with Virginia Dairy Maid Hollis Reames and her mom, Lindsey Reames of Amelia County. Hollis attends Amelia Academy in Amelia County. It was an honor to speak at the Amelia Academy High School graduation last year!

I attended a reception for Virginia manufacturers at the Capitol in Richmond.

Evangelist Byron Foxx visited us in the Senate Chamber.

Senator Bill Destef (Virginia Beach) & Senator Travis Hackworth (Tazewell).

We had lots of debate on the Senate floor this week. Thank God we have Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin and veto pen!

The Virginia Cattlemen Association visited us at the Capitol to advocate for the Cattle Industry in Virginia. They provided fellow legislators with a meal that included a beef sandwich, potato chips, milk, and ice cream; all produced right here in Virginia.

We are meeting some wonderful people. Sunday, I attended Thomas Road Baptist Church and Tree of Life Ministries in Lynchburg. This makes it 357 different places of worship I have visited in the district.

I met with Girl Scout Troop 101 with folks from Campbell County and Lynchburg. You can buy cookies online here.

I am having fun meeting you at the door and getting signatures to get on the ballot. We can do better than Good!

“Sage's Law” Radio Interview

Unfortunately, my bill “Sage's Law” was killed in the Democrat-controlled Senate. This is a tragic story out of Appomattox County, where the high school hid a young girl named Sage’s change in sex identification from Sage’s mother. Her mother was unable to protect Sage from the evil world of human trafficking. Sage’s Mom Michelle Blair told her heartbreaking story to the committee. The bill would have required any school professional, who reasonably suspects a student is at risk of suicide, or “is self-identifying as a different biological sex”, to contact at least one of the student’s parents, to notify the parent, and to offer counseling. Our kids should be number one! No government entity will ever love a child more than a parent.

Listen to my interview about Sage's Law on WMAL's O'Connor & Company Radio Show. None of us could believe that the Democrats would block this bill. I won't stop fighting to get it passed.
