I'm Running for Congress to "Save America"
Christian Conservative | | Trump Store Grand Opening Farmville, VA | | Bob Good lost my support when he attacked Trump and disrespected constituents in VA 05. I am answering the call from folks all across the district. We can do better than Good!
We were invited to attend the 5th District Trump Store Grand Opening last Saturday in Farmville, VA. They set us up with a table to get signatures for my petition to run for Congress!
My opponent was told not to show up by the owner, but he showed up anyway and had a really bad week. He foolishly posted a video showing his disrespectful behavior and it went viral.
| | 2024 Session Update Week 7 | | The General Assembly convened on January 10th. I am working hard with Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, and fellow legislators to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family. There are so many threats to Virginia: skyrocketing costs, the mess in our schools, the fentanyl streaming across the border. Will the Democrats help us solve these problems?
We have 15 days left in session. Then I will be able to devote my attention to my campaign for Congress. We can do better than Good.
Here is some of what is on my mind and what we have been up to: | | 2ND Amendment "Shall Not Be Infringed" | | I continue to speak up for and defend Virginia citizens’ gun rights on the Senate floor. This family heard me defending our second amendment on the senate floor, thanked me, and asked for a photo.
| | SB 222 Cyber Security Passes the House Appropriations | | My bill SB 222 on cyber security is making its way through the house. With cyber security threats on the rise, it is imperative we take action to secure our Commonwealth’s infrastructure. | | SB 630 Dispatchers/ First Responders Passes the House Public Safety Committee | | SB 603 Priority Treatment Jailed Pregnant and Women Passes the House Committee on Studies | | My bill SB 603 will give incarcerated pregnant women preferential treatment for drug rehab programs. I have visited the women's jail in Goochland County and I've heard reports around the district about the challenges faced by pregnant women in jail to attend drug rehab programs. Incarcerated pregnant women (those held in federal or state prisons, jails, or juvenile detention facilities) make up one of the most vulnerable segments of society, with higher rates of mental illness, drug addiction, and histories of trauma than incarcerated men. This bill will create a work group to find answers on how to help rehabilitate young and not so young women with the triple threat of being incarcerated, being pregnant, and being addicted. | |
Hunting Dog Permit Language Removed from Budget | | Pro-life advocates, including constituents from my district, visited my office on Wednesday morning to pray and discuss our efforts to protect our most vulnerable. I, along with fellow legislators, visited the rally at the Bell Tower before heading to caucus. Speakers at the rally included Victoria Cobb, President of the Family Foundation and Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earl-Sears. Governor Youngkin walked in front of the March for Life. In session, I had the honor of introducing these advocates and their important mission on the Senate floor. Life is a miracle and must be protected! | | Hanover Patriots, GOP Chair Candidate Ryan Martin | | After session Thursday, I attended the Hanover GOP Candidate Forum hosted by my friends at the Hanover Patriots. Ryan Martin delivered solid remarks on how he is a servant leader and will work hard to unite and grow the party as the next Hanover GOP Chair. Go get em, Ryan! | | Lt.Gov Winsome Sears Annual Legislative Breakfast | | It is always great when my friend, mentor, and a Statesman Delegate Lee Ware pays you a visit. | | Louisa High School CTE Director Bo Bundrick | | | | I enjoyed connecting with fellow legislators and lobbyist at the joint Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and Virginia Beer Wholesalers Association event. | | | Carolyn Bowman Farmers Daughter Prince Edward County | | | I met with Chris Davidson, founder and lead strategist of Orca Strategies and his student shadow from CNU. | | I spoke with Ben Husch, Director of Policy and Community Affairs of Skydio. It is amazing how far we have come with drone tech. | | | Virginia Tech Reception with President Timothy Sands. | | Past/ Current Chairman of Appropriations | | Delegate Luke Torian and Delegate Barry Knight | | Delegate Earl Dickenson Louisa County | | 2024 McGuire State Senate Legislative Agenda | | Here is some of the legislation brought to me by constituents and sponsored by me to improve Virginia.
Bills: | | Ramona Christian: Volunteer Coordinator Trump Campaign | | If you would like to volunteer, make phone calls, and help with the Trump campaign efforts in Virginia and Nationally please contact Ramona Christian, the Buckingham County GOP Chair, at ramonachristian862@gmail.com or 434-391-4546. | | Don't Forget to Vote Trump | | I'm running for Congress because the enemy isn't at the gate -- the enemy is THROUGH the gate and in our communities. Open borders, fentanyl, lawlessness, out of control spending, and more. Our country is in big trouble. I am running to represent the people of the 5th Congressional District because I am a conservative with a record of building teams to solve problems. We can do better than Good.
I've been all over the district and I can tell you the 5th Congressional District loves Trump and the America First Agenda!
I invite you and your friends to join me in this cause. Take care, please spread the word and I look forward to seeing you around the district! | | Senator John McGuire Soli Deo Gloria Republican Jesus is my Savior Husband Father Navy SEAL American Legion Member VFW (Life Member) NRA (Life Member) Highest Award for Conservatism (ACU/ CPAC) Family Foundation 100 VCDL 100 (Life Member) The Spirit of Virginia
