Spaces Still Available for War Museum World War II Kids Camp
Themed Allied Invasion of Italy, 1943


Delve into World War II in a one of a kind experience at the World War II Kids Camp August 22-25 from 9 AM - 3 PM. Participants, ages 8-12, train in squads, learn WWII infantry tactics and play out two battles a day. In between battles, the campers receive instruction in uniforms, equipment and history of World War II. The theme of this year’s camp is the Allied Invasion of Italy in 1943. Community Town Hall and Fair Sunday


On Sunday, August 14, Newport News Mayor McKinley Price is joining Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott, State Senator Mamie Locke, and Delegate Marcia “Cia” Price for a Community Town Hall and Fair at Heritage High School, 5800 Marshall Avenue. Organized by Delegate Price and open to the public, the event begins at 3:00 PM with a legislative update and town hall in the auditorium where elected officials will give updates on federal, state, and local initiatives that are impacting the community. Newport News Celebrates Back to School with Events and School Supply Giveaways


Tax free weekend gave parents a chance to save money on school supplies and now many community organizations are ensuring that students have exactly what they need when they return to school next month. There are multiple events happening in the next weeks to not only distribute free school supplies but to also connect families with valuable community resources.The events will have representatives from various community organizations and City Departments, food, games, and plenty of entertainment.
