Team,
We have had a busy few weeks with several big events occurring in Virginia Beach and right in the 85th district. As we move into November, I am looking forward to next session and have been working on numerous bills. More on that later!
We joined students at Regent University, packing bags with Fear 2 Freedom that will go to abused children at aftercare centers in Peru and Costa Rica. Our community is full of so many wonderful people doing their best to make the world a better place.
And speaking of wonderful - who doesn't like donuts? It was back to Regent University for their leadership series, where I had the pleasure of hearing inspiring works from James Morgan, CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. "Believe in yourself, in each other, and believe in the future." (Paraphrase)
And in the heart of Kempsville, Team Taylor enjoyed supporting the Kempsville Baseball program and participating in the Kempsville parade! Good times!
Also, in the district, we hosted and were joined by over 100 folks at the "Shaggy Salute" to honor all the community work local DJ "Shaggy" does, like ShaggFest, where he helps up and coming bands get a stage, where this year he secured arguably the hottest act on the planet, Pharrell, to headline the event. Additionally, he sleeps on a bus collecting presents for underprivileged kids every year during the Christmas season, for Stuff the Bus.
We had the pleasure of attending the 40th Anniversary of Virginia Beach's largest employers, Stihl Inc. Appropriately celebrated at an October Fest themed event.
On a personal note - I was humbled to help present the Honor and Remember flag to Gold Star mother, Jan Anderson, mom to my fallen team mate, brother, and hero, Kevin Houston.
Very Respectfully,
