Chairman's Update: August 14, 2014

If you are having trouble viewing this message, see it in your browser.

Robert,

I usually have quite a bit to say during these updates, but this is the last one before we have Special Elections for 3 seats in the General Assembly, and I want us all focused on the task at hand.

By this time next week, we could have 21 seats in the state Senate and 70 seats in the House of Delegates -- if we all get to work.

In Southwest Virginia, Ben Chafin is running against Mike Hymes to keep control of the state Senate in GOP hands. Ben is a solid conservative. He hasn't been in the General Assembly long, but he's already amassed a great voting record.

Mike Hymes, the Democrat, voted for taxes on coal, has been dishonest about his record on the Second Amendment (enough to cost him his rating from the NRA), and has been campaigning with pro-abortion candidates like Democrat state Sen. Louise Lucas.

If you live in Senate District 38 — parts of Tazewell, Pulaski, Russell, Buchanan, Dickenson, Wise, Bland, Smyth counties and as well as parts of the cities of Radford and Norton — get out to the polls and VOTE on Tuesday! Even better, vote and volunteer to help the campaign out before and on Election Day. Click here to get in touch with the campaign!

Up in Arlington County, we have a VERY good chance at winning a House of Delegates seat in the Democrats' back yard. Dave Foster is running a great campaign, and more importantly, is a great public servant. If you live in the 48th, parts of Eastern Fairfax and northern Arlington, get to the polls on Tuesday!

If you can volunteer to help the campaign at all, email Chris Marston at chris.marston@gmail.com. No campaign can have too many volunteers, so please, get in touch and help out.

Down in Norfolk and parts of Virginia Beach, Marcus Calabrese is our nominee in the 90th House of Delegates district. If Republicans show up, we can win, so please show up at the polls!

Robert, Tuesday is going to set the stage for November -- all across the country. If we work hard, we can be the start of the wave that even the most liberal reporters say is coming!

Winning elections takes resources, and I know I've asked before, but every time I ask, you all rise to the occasion.

Senator Ted Cruz sent out an email recently, asking for 1,000 Virginia patriots to chip in $35 each to help us win We've seen a tremendous response! If you haven't chipped in yet, please click here and do so!

One other note: I just got word that Dave Brat is the only candidate to file for the Nov. 4th Special Election nomination, and as such will be our nominee on the ballot — twice! No, that's not Democrat-like skullduggery.

Voters will be choosing a candidate to fill out the remaining term of Eric Cantor, who is resigning as of Aug. 18th. At the same time, we'll be choosing a candidate to serve the next two years, from January 2015 to January 2017. So if you live in the 7th District, remember to vote for Dave Brat twice and Ed Gillespie once on Election Day!

Folks, we've got the best field we've ever had. We've got the enthusiasm. We've got the tools.

All we're missing is you at the polls!

Let's go win!

Pat Mullins, Chairman
