Conference Call & New Leadership at STAND

The National Emergency Coalition
Tuesday's NEC Conference Call:
Dave Brat for Congress

This Tuesday our special guest is Dave Brat, candidate for Congress in Virginia's 7th Congressional District.  Dave was recently propelled from an unknown economics professor to national prominence by defeating the House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the June Republican Primary.  Dave will be joining us to talk about why he believes that it is time that the American people start holding BOTH political parties in Washington accountable.

I do want to note that STAND is a non partisan organization and we do not endorse or donate money to candidates.

So be sure to join us this Tuesday at 12noon (EST) and invite your friends and join us as well to hear from Dave Brat!  The conference call number is 712-432-0900, and the access code is 199176#.

New Leadership at STAND

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Martin Brown as the new Executive Director of S.T.A.N.D.  His experience and Christian character make him a tremendous asset to our organization, and I am excited to have him aboard.

Mr. Brown served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health and Human Resources under Governor George Allen, and Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services during the administration of Governor James Gilmore.  Under Governor Bob McDonnell he headed up the Virginia Department of Social Services and served as Special Advisor for Prisoner Reentry and Family Reintegration.

Martin Brown also served as Executive Director for The Family Foundation in 1998 and 1999.  He is a graduate of Howard University's School of Business Administration.  He and his wife have two children and reside in the Metro-Richmond area of Virginia.  You will be able to reach Martin at Martin@standamerica.us.

I also want to thank Daniel Bradshaw who has served me in more than one capacity over the last two years.  He has been an invaluable help in getting STAND operating after my hiatus while a candidate for Lt. Governor.  Daniel is a young man of tremendous potential, and remains a great friend and part of my team.  I am grateful for his dedicated service and pray God's blessings upon him as he continues the fight for conservative principles in other venues.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER REGARDING NONPROFIT AFFILIATIONS

Please be advised that the National Emergency Coalition (NEC) is not a formal organization, but a Coalition of individual leaders. It is convened by STAND (Staying True to America's National Destiny). The weekly conference calls held under the NEC banner are primarily for purposes of information and political strategizing on the advancement of certain principles and not the endorsement of or opposition to particular candidates. However, at times there are discussions which involve lobbying, recommendations for political and electoral activity and expressions of support for or opposition to particular elected officials based on their policies. Individual participants have full latitude to lobby on any policy or to endorse or oppose any candidate or elected official. However, nonprofit organizations are circumscribed by the Internal Revenue Code and related rules and regulations regarding activity of organizations tax exempt under IRC Sections 501(C)(3) and (C)(4). NEC is a coalition of individuals only. Listing organizational affiliations on NEC notices is strictly for purposes of identifying individuals and in no way implies - nor does NEC require or accept - the participation of any nonprofit organization in political activity or contributions in violation of any IRS rules. The general rule is that nonprofit organizations may not endorse or oppose candidates and may not engage in a "substantial" amount of lobbying or political activity. Nonprofit organizations should consult with an attorney or accountant for specifics to assure compliance.
