As a student at Harvard Law School, then-bachelor Barack Obama’s practice of wearing a gold band on his wedding-ring finger puzzled his colleagues. Now, newly published photographs of Obama from the 1980s show that the ring Obama wore on his wedding-ring finger as an unmarried student is the same ring Michelle Robinson put on his finger at the couple’s wedding ceremony in 1992. Moreover, according to Arabic-language and Islamic experts, the ring Obama has been wearing for more than 30 years is adorned with the first part of the Islamic declaration of faith, the Shahada: “There is no god except Allah.” The Shahada is the first of the Five Pillars of Islam, expressing the two fundamental beliefs that make a person a Muslim: There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is Allah’s prophet. Sincere recitation of the Shahada is the sole requirement for becoming a Muslim, as it expresses a person’s rejection of all other gods.

In one of the worst incidents in history in our government’s failure to protect our diplomats abroad, the United States Department of State withdrew U.S. security personnel from Libya. This act of criminal neglect was done in spite of repeated warnings from our embassy that the anarchic Libyan government was not able to protect our diplomats. On October 1, 2012 Eric Nordstrom, the embassy’s former security chief, wrote an email stating that there were 230 security incidents in Libya June 2011 and July 2012. At the age of seventeen I invaded Cuba at the Bay of Pigs, in an effort to eradicate communism in the country of my birth. We lost the battle due to the failure of the Kennedy administration in 1961 to follow through on the original plan prepared by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Central Intelligence Agency. It was an act of criminal negligence. The 1176 prisoners of war of the Brigade 2506 were sentenced to 30 years in prison at hard labor. After two horrendous years of imprisonment, we were released after successful negotiations between the United States and Cuba.
This experience changed my life forever and that of my entire family. I saw how we in Cuba ignored the warnings that Fidel Castro and many of his followers were communist. Most people believed in Fidel Castro’s promises to have free elections, respect individual freedoms, and establish a democratic government. Instead we got a bloody dictatorship for almost 54 years in a country 90 miles away from the United States.
