Information Alert: Proposed Abortion Center Regs Released
Late this afternoon the Department of Health released proposed regulations for abortion centers in Virginia.
You can view the proposed regulations by clicking here, then scroll to page 25 of the document.
We will reserve commenting on the proposed regulations until we have had adequate time to thoroughly review them, hopefully over the next several days.
Once we have analyzed what has been proposed, we will determine what our next steps will be. Should we find the proposed regulations adequately meet the health and safety standards we believe are necessary, we will urge you to contact the Board of Health and encourage adoption of the regulations.
The public comment period on the proposed emergency regulations will continue until the Board votes on them September 15. Should they pass, they will then go to the Executive Branch for review. (The public comment period is shorter than the normal 30 days because these are emergency regulations.) They will then go into effect January 1, 2012. At that point, the normal regulatory process will kick in, and permanent regulations will be created, going through a likely 18 month process.
The regulations come as a result of legislation passed during this year’s General Assembly session.
New Family Foundation Family Member We are pleased to announce the arrival of Emma Grace Cobb, born to TFF President Victoria Cobb and her husband Matt late this afternoon. Mom and baby are doing well. All of us at The Family Foundation offer Matt and Victoria our best wishes on the new addition to their family.
