Team Taylor,
Late yesterday, news came that Senator Puckett resigned from his state Senate seat. This gives Republicans control of the Virginia Senate 20-19. Given this change, and the fact just nine Senators have the ability to call the Senate back to Richmond, I am optimistic we will see the Senate go back to the Capitol and vote on the budget. Senator Puckett's resignation could pave the way to an expedient budget resolution, something in the best interests of all Virginians. Senate Democrats and the Governor have held the budget hostage over Medicaid Expansion, taking us just a few weeks before a shut down of the Virginia government could occur. Whether you are for or against Medicaid Expansion, it has no business holding up Virginia's budget. This threatens things such as public safety, education, and other core government services. Virginians want us to do our jobs and put their families first, before political agendas. I look forward to doing my job, returning to Virginia's sacred chamber and casting my vote for our budget.
