Victory in 2013 Depends on You!

Victory in 2013 Depends on You!

Dear Patriotic Friends:

Thank you so much for your support of my last campaign. Even though I was a long shot candidate, because you believe in what I stand for, you stood by me. Running against the establishment was a struggle, but we emerged with a strong grassroots following.

Your loyalty and faith launched me to a very different position in my campaign for Lt. Governor. I now have statewide name recognition, grassroots support and a professional staff to organize this effort. Each day we are building our team, raising the necessary funds and growing closer to becoming the 2013 Republican Nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.

We were all deeply disappointed on November 6th, but I am pleased to report that here in Virginia, the conservative grassroots Tea Party and Republican activists are energized. They are ready for the next fight because they know what is at stake - our country. The future of our children, grandchildren and generations yet unborn hangs in the balance. This is no time to despair. Now is the time to focus, organize and mobilize. Patriots are responding to the clarion call to conservative values: unbowed, unapologetic and unequivocal. We are rising to the challenge knowing that if we remain vigilant, we will be victorious. Truth has a power which will not be denied. Liberty has a resonance which stirs the American soul.

As Lt. Governor of Virginia I will help my fellow citizens draw a line in the sand. We will hold fast to the 10th Amendment and to the rights and freedoms given to us by our Creator. Virginia will lead the way for our country in opposing the federal power grab. We will be an example to the other states of the resistance that James Madison talked about in Federalist Paper #45, when he described how states could organize to oppose unconstitutional federal encroachment on state sovereignty. With determination, integrity and every tool the Founders left us, we will oppose the Obama agenda and fight for our Founding principles.

The election of Ken Cuccinelli as the next Governor of Virginia is critical, but it is just as important to elect a Lieutenant Governor equally committed to stand and fight. Tie votes in the State Senate will break for conservative values because as President of the Senate, I will cast those votes.

I took an oath to the Constitution when I joined the United States Marine Corps. That oath never had an expiration date. I committed myself to fight for my country and picked up an M-17 rifle. This time I am picking up the Virginia Constitution and our Federal Constitution. These will be the tools of my warfare. I will fight to uphold the truth enshrined in those great documents and the rule of law they represent, for they bind the government just as much as they bind the citizen. The government and all elected officials, including the President, must obey the supreme law of the land just as you and I must.

Although President Obama and I both graduated from Harvard Law School, he drank the progressive Kool Aid. I did not. However, my years at Harvard Law and 15 years of law practice taught me how the law and the legislative process work. I will use that education and experience to fight for our liberties against an out-of-control President and federal government.

Just as our forefathers did in 1776, in 2013 Virginia stands against an authoritarian regime seeking to erode our freedom. Now as never before, it is essential that we elect candidates who do not merely say the right things, but will stand in the crucible; who will not buckle under pressure from the mainstream media or the political establishment; who will do the right thing behind closed doors, when hidden from view; who will be steadfast and keep their word to the voters who elect them. If you have heard me speak, you have probably heard me quote my beloved father, the late William Jackson who used to say, "Son, a man is only as good as his word. If your word is no good, you are no good." I am running for Lieutenant Governor and I give you my word that my record will match my rhetoric.

At this critical time in our history, we do not need more politicians who will go along with almost anything to advance their careers. We need statesmen who will do what needs to be done to advance the cause. That upsets lots of Democrats, and it may even upset a few Republicans. So be it.

Thomas Paine said, "These are the times that try men's souls." I know that Christmas is just around the corner, but we cannot rest and we cannot wait. I waited until after the Nov. 6th election to decide to jump into this race because I am motivated by what is best for my country, not what is best for me.

I officially announced my campaign on December 1. However, now that I have jumped in, I am pressing ahead with every fiber of my being, and I need your help. I need to raise $50,000 before Christmas. We have made good progress toward that goal, but the time is short. PLEASE CLICK HERE MAKE THE MOST GENEROUS DONATION YOU CAN TODAY TO "JACKSON FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR - $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250, $100 OR ANY AMOUNT YOU CAN AFFORD.

This week Speaker Boehner is trying to make deal with Barack Obama. How can he make a deal with a man who at best has a tenuous grasp of the truth and at worst is an inveterate liar? The deal that will guide me as Lt. Governor is my deal with you - the citizen. I will honor and fight for the Constitution of the United States and the Constitutional sovereignty of Virginia. I will represent the same values when elected that I espouse as a candidate.

I don't know where God intends to take me or what destiny He has in store. Traveling across Virginia and across the country, I sense a desperate hunger and hope for conservative leaders who will represent America's historic values, champion free enterprise, oppose efforts to take more of our hard earned money in taxes and unify instead of divide us. I will strive always to be such a leader, and leave it to you and God where that leadership takes me.

For now, with your help, I will dig my foxhole as Lt. Governor and take on all comers who try to move me off the hill where I have planted my conservative flag. I will fight every progressive effort to fundamentally transform our country, and I will fight any Republican who thinks compromising our values is acceptable politics. Democrat Virginia State Senator Dick Saslaw has sometimes made deals with our side and the trade-off has been to kill important conservative legislation. I will be Dick Saslaw's worst nightmare, and give Republicans a reason to rally rather than retreat.

Christmas is the Season of Hope. In spite of the setbacks we have experienced, I still believe that the 21st century will be the greatest in America's history thus far and Virginia's greatest as well. We will learn from our mistakes, regroup for the battle, rally our fellow citizens to the cause and march on to victory. May God show us the way. Let liberty light the way. And Virginia will lead the way.

Have a very Merry Christmas.

For God & Country,

E.W. Jackson, Candidate

Lt. Governor of Virginia
