Candidate interviews

As we continue to interview Lt. Gov. and Att. Gen. candidates, it's important that we understand their voting records.  Unfortunately politicians will tell you what you want to hear but sometimes vote entirely different.

The Family Foundation (and there are probably others) has done a good job putting together "report cards" that show how Virginia  Delegates and Senators have voted on important issues.  I must say they did a good job putting this information together and it is simple to understand.  You can research any given year.

It is true that not all the candidates have a voting record in the General Assy. since some of them have not served in that capacity as of yet.  Of the seven or so candidates for Lt. Gov, the names of interest that can be found in the report card would be:  Scott Lingamfelter,  Steve Martin, and  Jeannemarie Davis.  Of the two running for Attorney General the names are Rob Bell and Mark Obenshain

It is our desire to get the most conservative candidate to fill these positions and having a knowledge of who they are is an individual responsibility.  Too often we may vote for someone because we like them or because they are  a good person.  While these are desirable traits, unfortunately that doesn't always equate to conservatism.

So... do your homework and make sure you get registered as a delegate to the 2013 convention so you can help select your candidate for the November ticket.  For the first time in a while, you now have a voice instead of "big donors" or "special interest" groups having any influence, so don't pass this up.

If you have not done so already, please contact me so you can be notified when the registration begins.  If you do not live in Chesterfield County, you will need to contact your local Republican unit committee to find out when their registration begins.  Please note, you are not obligated to join the republican party to participate in the 2013 convention.  Should you have any questions, I will be glad to help in any way I can.
