OK, so yes, the KGTP Newsletter is a week and a day late. I had to go on travel last week and was unable to access my computer. Not to worry, however, for there is lots of news below to review.
The topic of immediate discussion whenever anyone gets together now is the COVID-19 / coronavirus and the potential for being exposed. I honestly believe that the most damaging effect has been to our American economy, as evidenced by the stock market's slide. What I do appreciate during these conversations, however, is objective perspective and this article is about the only one I have come across to do so:
"An example: there were 34,200 deaths in the United States during the 2018–19 influenza season, estimates the CDC. We did not shut down public events and institutions to try to slow the spread of the flu. Yet we have already destroyed $5 trillion in stock market wealth over the last few weeks in the growing coronavirus panic, reports The New York Times, wiping out retirement savings for many."Compared to what?

The other hot-button topic is the progress the Virginia candidates have had for the Republican primary for U.S. Senate (to unseat Mark Warner). As you will recall, we hosted Daniel Gade during our February meeting. Now that both Gade and Speciale have cleared their first hurdle in getting qualified to run, the primary competition will begin in earnest.

With regards to the Democrats, it is probably a safe bet to say that Mr. Gafftastic himself, Joe Biden, will be their 2020 presidential nominee. Joe really did Donald Trump a favor this week when he belligerently responded to a pro-gun voter's question as the reaction from the average citizen watching the exchange will be very damaging to Biden. Here is a quote from the NRA video made highlighting this exchange and a couple of news articles about it as well:
