As I said during my testimony: politicians fearful of the people are attacking the right to vote after witnessing record voter turnout in the 2020 elections. Just take a look at what's happening in Georgia. The state's General Assembly is considering 22 bills to restrict access to voting after Georgians set voting records -- this is one of the highest numbers of anti-voting legislation in a single state. This is the right time to deal with the unholy trinity of voter suppression, dark money, and gerrymandering. And the For the People Act is the right act to do it. Earlier this week, the All On The Line team launched a multi-state grassroots advocacy initiative to convince key senators to pass this bill. If you're able, can you support their efforts by making a donation -- of any amount -- right now? What we are witnessing in Georgia are partisan politicians who feel threatened by the increase in the mobilization of Black, Asian, young, and increasingly diverse voters. These politicians are retaliating with a wave of restrictive, anti-democratic voting measures. And Georgia isn't the only state doing this. The state legislatures of 42 other states are collectively considering a total of 231 voter suppression bills. I believe the onslaught of voter restriction bills in Georgia, and across the country, makes it a necessity for Congress to pass federal legislation like the For the People Act to expand and protect voting rights for everyone. That's why I testified today. I told Congress the most important thing we can do to address these threats is to pass the For the People Act. Provision by provision, the For the People Act would begin to repair the damage that has been caused to voting rights in America over the past decade. The All On The Line team has a plan to encourage Congress to pass this bill into law and protect voting rights for everyone -- but they need your help. Will you make a donation today? Senators need to hear from their constituents about this bill. And All On The Line's grassroots initiative can make that happen -- but we need to keep these efforts going until the bill is passed. We'll stop these bills together, Eric H. Holder, Jr.
All On The Line is the grassroots advocacy campaign supported by the National Redistricting Action Fund.
| When the Senate invited me to testify at today's hearing on the For the People Act, I knew this was an opportunity to fight for our democracy and speak about the state of voting rights in our nation.
