1. Chesapeake becomes 37th "No local gun-control" resolution locality! Interesting details
I didn't have time to type-up the report on Chespeake passing their "No local gun-control" resolution on Tuesday, so I did an audio report. Click here to listen to it: https://vcdl.org/resources/Audio/Chesapeake.mp3 2. Anti-rights Delegate Dan Helmer reminds us they are coming for our guns in January
We had best have a huge Lobby Day on Monday, January 18, 2021, as it is clear that the Democrat gun-controllers in the General Assembly are coming for our guns, magazines, suppressors and more. Here is an email that Delegate Dan Helmer is sending out to his consitituents: My name is Dan Helmer. I represent Virginia's 40th House District, and am the first Democrat to represent the 40th in three decades. I'm also a West Point graduate. I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan -- there, I lost friends to bullets. Such losses were devastating, but they happened in war zones. But our streets and schools aren't war zones, and enough is enough. I sit on the Guns Subcommittee, and I helped pass vital pieces of gun violence prevention legislation this spring. But, in the face of the gun lobby and NRA resistance, one major initiative I helped to patron failed: a ban on assault weapons and limits on magazine size. These dangerous weapons can still be purchased here in Virginia and used in deadly violence across the country. Weapons like those I carried in war zones shouldn't be sold in our communities. I hope you'll join me in demanding an end to the sale of these exceptionally deadly weapons. Add your name to our petition! 3. Who is going to win these two trophies this Saturday?
Who will bring home one of these trophies at the VCDL/LEO Benefit shooting match at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club on Saturday at 10 am? If VCDL wins the overall team match, then individual trophies will be given to the VCDL team members (trophy not shown). The top shooter of the day and the top LEO team will get one of the trophies below. Participating Sheriffs Department teams: Powhatan, Culpeper, and York Counties. (Grayson County had to drop out due to a sudden, temporary, shortage of manpower.) VCDL's team members: Benjamin McLeod Malcolm J. Blundell Kevin Osborne Michael Orsinger Roland Corbett Daniel S Wes Boozer Dave Weston Philip Van Cleave John Wilburn So far $3,270 has been raised for the American Cancer Society. Our goal was $2,000! 4. Number of CHP holders in Virginia is up!
Fresh numbers from the Virginia State Police: Resident CHP holders: 661,948 Non-resident CHP holders: 43,393 Total: 705,341 Woot, woot! 5. A video for new gun-owners on being active politically
Many of the new gun-owners may not know the first thing about the politics involved. This video is aimed at them and also has a plug for VCDL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CkyxPbm5BQ 6. Rittenhouse video - sure looks like self-defense to me
This video was put together by the Rittenhouse defense team from multiple sources. Everyone walking around with a cell phone that can take video can be a curse, but also a blessing in documenting an event. 7. Voting has begun!
You can now vote early, and in person, at your local Registrar's Office. All elections are important, but elections this year and in 2021 and 2022 are critical to getting our rights back. If we don't vote, we will see even more intense efforts to disarm us. 8. Congressman Bobby Scott has a new opponent
John Colllick is running against anti-gun Congressman Bobby Scott for Virginia's 3rd Congressional District. Mr. Collick has a strong statement in support of our right to self-defense on his website: https://www.collickforcongress.com/issues Right To Self Defense The Right to Self-Defense is inherent in humanity and in the United States, includes the Right to own personal weapons. Currently, Democrats at every level, from local governments up to the U.S. Congress, are constantly working to deprive law abiding Americans of their Rights to own guns. Not one proposed law is aimed at taking guns from criminals – or people who receive guns illegally. They all "explain" the need to take guns away from law-abiding citizens. We are rapidly moving toward general gun confiscation. All it will take is another person merely states he thinks a gun owner might be a danger to local authorities. The authorities will confiscate that persons weapons; the weapons might be returned if a court decides the gun owner is not a threat. Fewer and fewer people are inclined to say that another person poses no threat - a judge would be no different. Statistics clearly show that when a properly trained individual is present during a shooting, the threat is quickly mitigated. Unfortunately, when someone prevents a mass shooting, it's rarely reported outside of the local area but when a mass shooter is successful, it's reported as an epidemic. Over the past seven years, concealed carry permit holders were credited with saving multiple lives in Rockledge, Florida (2017), Antioch, Tennessee (2017), Arlington, Texas (2017), Lyman, South Carolina (2016), Winton, Ohio (2015), Conyers, Georgia (2015), New Holland, South Carolina (2015), Chicago, Illinois (2015), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2015), Darby, Pennsylvania (2015), Chicago, Illinois (2014), Portland, Oregon (2014), and Spartanburg, South Carolina (2012). To continue to enjoy your God given Rights - whether they're the Rights to Bear Arms, Peaceably Assemble, Be Free from Search of Your Property without Cause, or any other inalienable Rights, you need a Congressman who will Fight to keep these from being taken. Only John Collick is willing to fight for these Rights - Bobby Scott will not - unless you're an Illegal Immigrant, whom he supports without restriction or reservation. 9. Article on Red Flag law being used in Virginia
Red Flag laws are more likely to get someone killed, because they offer no help to someone having a mental-health crisis. It's a feel-good law and that's it. The solution that should be used is a Temporary Detention Order, which has due process and gets a person help with a mental-health crisis. The person's gun rights aren't affected unless it is determined that the person needs mental-health treatment.
