Team, On December 4, 1619, 38 British settlers reach Berkeley Hundred on the banks of Virginia's James River, they read a proclamation designating the date as "a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God." From those early days onward, Virginians have always had a deep history of celebrating Thanksgiving. I am very much looking forward to seeing my family this Thanksgiving and, of course, scarfing down some pumpkin pie; I have no will power when it comes to that. My weakness for sweets and expanding waistline aside, there are many things that I am blessed and grateful for. May Thanksgiving be an amazing day for each of you and your families. I hope we will all take a moment to give thanks for this amazing country in which we live, for those who protect it at home and abroad, and for our own opportunities to make a difference for others and this world. I especially want to give thanks to my staff, Brenda and Terrell, who work hard to meet the needs of the residents of the 85th District. Below is a quick note from a content constituent, "THANK YOU Delegate Scott Taylor (and Mr. Kingwood and the entire staff!) for stepping in to help my family navigate the mental health system. I know that you have avoided a tragedy by assisting my family in helping our son get the treatment that he needs. Your help and support have amazed me and given me faith that the system can really work when the right people are in office. THANK YOU for truly serving the needs of those in your district. I am forever grateful." Happy Thanksgiving!
