**State of Emergency Declared** Hurricane Ian

Dear   –

While Virginia will escape the worst of Hurricane Ian, the remnants of the storm are expected to bring heavy rains and gusty winds to the Commonwealth for days, with some areas seeing as much as 8 inches of rain, with even heavier amounts in some places. Governor Youngkin has declared a state of emergency to ensure that state government is ready to respond as needed.

Winds from the storm aren't forecast to reach the level of a tropical storm, but with so much rain, any strong winds can knock down trees and take power lines with them.

I wanted to share several links that could be useful in the event we do experience significant disruptions from the storm.
