UPDATE: "An unprecedented year so far for voting legislation"

Congress could take action to reverse the effects of these voter suppression laws.

Robert,

UPDATED REPORT: The Brennan Center recently updated their voter suppression bill tracker -- anti-voting lawmakers in 19 states across the country have passed 33 laws that make it harder to vote.

Map of the United States with the 19 states highlighted that have enacted 33 voter suppression laws

The All On The Line Team is executing an advocacy campaign to help reverse the effects of some of these laws by pressuring the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act -- especially since midterm elections are now less than 365 days away!

We set a mid-month goal of raising $36,500 by Monday at 11:59pm to continue this work. Will you pitch in?

This wave of voter suppression laws is part of a trend. A study this year found that over the past decade, 25 states have enacted new voting restrictions like unnecessary photo ID requirements, limits on early voting, and rules that ultimately make it harder to register to vote.

The current spike -- 425 introduced bills and 33 enacted laws -- is a direct reaction to the 2020 elections, which drew the highest voter turnout rate in more than a century.

Partisan politicians across the country are trying to disenfranchise voters and manipulate maps before the 2022 midterm elections. Just look at Georgia -- after passing one of the nation's worst voter suppression laws earlier this year, the General Assembly proposed legislative maps that double down on current gerrymanders.

It's not too late to ensure the voting laws and congressional maps in every state are fair before the midterm elections. We can protect the right to vote and end partisan congressional gerrymandering by passing the Freedom to Vote Act.

We only have one more day to reach our goal. Will you give a donation to All On The Line right now? We're asking people to chip in $36.50 if they can -- it's about our average grassroots donation since the last midterm elections.

-- The AOTL Team
