Milling and Paving Work to Begin on Boxley Boulevard and Menchville Road

 
Residents and motorists are advised that HRSD will begin milling and paving operations on Boxley Boulevard starting Monday, April 17. Work begins westbound near Warwick Boulevard, moving toward Menchville Road. Construction takes place between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Drivers will have access to Boxley Boulevard in both directions at a reduced capacity during construction. The work is anticipated to take about 10 days to complete, but is weather dependent. Week-long Birthday Events for
Ella Fitzgerald at Downing-Gross


The City has been gearing up all year for this special week to honor local jazz great Ella Fitzgerald on what would have been her 100th birthday. The Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, home of the Ella Fitzgerald Theater, is serving as the site for the four-day celebration.

There are events for all ages. Bring the kids Wednesday, April 19 for a free Ella-themed birthday party. School-age children can enjoy cupcakes, a scavenger hunt, and a special performance by an Ella impersonator. Read more...

 Delegate Price to Host Spring Legislative Town Hall


Come out to South Morrison Family Education Center, Monday, April 17, as Delegate Marcia "Cia" Price (95th District) hosts a Spring Legislative Town Hall. The event takes place in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Del. Price is offering updates on legislation that is becoming law in July. Citizens can also hear presentations on environmental issues, receive updates on gun violence prevention measures, learn about advocacy opportunities, and get information on summer opportunities for youth. This event is family friendly with free youth activities provided for the first 20 youth registered, between the ages of 5-17.
