Monday's special session of the General Assembly was truly notable--for all of the wrong reasons. Rather than beginning the redistricting process as ordered by the federal court, Senate Democrats adjourned, leaving the task unfinished. The Democrats' actions also halted the public hearings previously scheduled by the House of Delegates to solicit citizen input on redistricting.
I am deeply disappointed by this outcome. Over the past several weeks, I have received numerous emails offering input on redistricting. Because of the Democrats' actions, however, voters will no longer have the ability to provide direct suggestions on redistricting. The decision will likely be made by the courts.
On the Campaign Trail
Although the legislative session has occupied a great deal of my attention, I have remained busy campaigning. In recent weeks, I've spent time with the Girl Scouts at Camp Skimino, participated in National Night Out events, and met with community leaders.
Looking toward November, I will be continuing my efforts. To support my campaign, please reply to this email if you would like to:
place a bumper sticker on your vehicle
request a yard sign
volunteer to knock on doors and help with other campaign activities
Running a winning campaign requires a significant financial investment. Please support my efforts by making a donation today!
