Dear Friend, Almost a year ago today I toured a Veterans Care Center in Richmond with Delegate Rich Anderson. The center is operated by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and we visited this site with the intent of working together to bring a similar facility to Prince William County. That goal took a huge step forward yesterday! The Board of County Supervisors voted unanimously to convey to the Commonwealth of Virginia 27 acres of land owned by the County to build a state of the art Veterans Care Center. The center will have space to care for 240 of our neighbors who have sacrificed so much while serving our country. It will provide short-term rehabilitation, long-term skilled nursing care, and assisted living. Prince William County is home to an estimated 50,000 veterans - having a place here in the county that can provide top level care for them is just a small way we can thank them for their service. In addition to our 50,000 veterans in Prince William County, the location will provide easy access to other veterans throughout Northern Virginia with its location near Interstate 66. The Board of Supervisors and our Delegation to the General Assembly have worked in coordination on this project every step of the way and we will continue to do so until it comes to fruition. Corey |
