At our November meeting we discussed the upcoming convention in 2013 that is being held in Richmond. For the benefit of those who did not attend the meeting, the election of republican candidates to the office of Attorney General, Lt. Governor and Governor will be chosen in a convention instead of a primary. Those chosen at the convention will go on the republican ticket for the general election in November 2013. As someone stated, Virginia is one of the few states with an off year election so we will be getting some attention. We are encouraging everyone to participate in this process and to experience it first hand. The first step is to register to be a delegate. You do not have to be a member of any political party in order to do this. Chesterfield County Republican Comm. will have their registration towards the end of January. Once the final date is determined and the forms are available, you will be notified. Many of you signed up at our November meeting but I want to extend the invitation to those who did not attend. Please let me know of your interest so we can make sure you get registered. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. If you do not live in Chesterfield, please conact your local republican comm. and ask them when their "call" will be for delegate registration. The times vary across the state and are usually not well publicized. The registrtation deadlines are very strict so if you miss your deadline there are no do overs and you will miss the opportunity to be able to vote at the convention. This will not affect your opportunity to vote in November. You can notify me through this site or ralph@chesterpatriots.com or call 334-7697. Once again, your participation is strongly encouraged. This is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the 2013 election of state offices and take an active role in the convention process. I guarantee you it will be something you will not want to miss. Ralph |
