2016 Teen Summer Leadership Academy

As a champion for Newport News and providing opportunities for youth, Delegate Marcia Price is hosting the 2016 Teen Summer Leadership Academy. Throughout the summer, the youth have been involved in skill building classes, field trips to the Virginia State Capital to observe government in action, planning sessions for defining their futures, and community service projects. Safety Railings Installed at Recovery Operations Center

The Recovery Operations Center, located at 550 Atkinson Way, recently added railings at the citizen drop-off area. This safety measure was put in place in an effort to keep citizens safe, prevent accidental injuries, and avoid potential falls into the containers. Citizens can use the drop-off for bulk and brush disposal needs. As always, citizens can place bulk waste curbside for pick-up provided it meets certain criteria. Newport News Now to Feature a Business Every Friday

Starting tomorrow, every Friday Newport News Now will feature a local business in the new section titled Business Now. Newport News recognizes the contribution of local businesses to the economic strength, diversity, vitality, and overall character of the City. We are proud of the companies that have chosen to make Newport News their business home and pleased that many continue to grow and expand here. Our business community is comprised of companies ranging from single-person entrepreneurial endeavors to the largest industrial employer in Virginia. We have companies in Newport News from almost every business sector.
