VA-ALERT: Alexandria government votes for tyranny

For a few minutes it looked like the Alexandria City Council might have some members who actually wanted to consider the concerns of gun owners.  Some logic and reason seemed to want to rear its head.

But no, logic and reason was just too much for City Council to handle.  They are driven by emotion and simply want to impose their will on the citizens of the Commonwealth.  Logic and reason would screw that up.

The gun owners who spoke did a fantastic job.  I would say there were two gun owners to every one gun controller.

Anti-freedom Delegate Mark Levine spoke and was asked gratuitous questions by City Council, giving him way more time to speak on his gun-control fantasies than any one else had.  He lied through his teeth about gun owners during his comments, as usual.

The Mayor and another council member were concerned about the "adjacent road" wording dealing with the gun ban in a permitted event and suggested that maybe that wording should be removed.  But given a chance to vote on that concern, the Mayor did not even second the motion to consider doing so.

One of the council members said that even though they now had the power to implement all the gun control they ever wanted, perhaps they didn't need to exercise all of that power.  I think that was just an inside joke.

My wife was shocked at how little City Council members knew about gun laws, which became obvious as she listened to City Council debating the ordinance.

In the end, the vote was unanimous to restrict the rights of peaceful gun owners as much as they possibly could.  No exceptions for CHP holders.  No exceptions for private security, No exceptions for retired police.  No exceptions for those living on a road adjacent to a permitted event.  Nothing.

I can't really describe my feeling of disgust with Alexandria's City Council over this vote.  Because they don't like guns they don't give a damn if their ordinance endangers CHP holders who are under active threat.  They don't care about Article 1, Section 13.  They don't care that during an event, everyone who lives on an adjacent street cannot leave or enter their property if armed.  You are held hostage until the event or events are over.

I suggest that gun owners should not spend a penny in Alexandria until this ordinance is repealed or invalidated.  That goes double for the Farmer's Market.  If a store has a sign welcoming gun owners, that would be the only suggested exception.  If you live in Alexandria, consider running for City Council.  Let's get those worthless individuals out of power.

All that said, VCDL isn't necessarily through with Alexandria just yet.  Stay tuned.
