QUICK SIGNATURES on top #5Actions?
We need your voice!
Dear Rob, We're back with this week's list of top #5Actions from the past week, featuring hot items around defending equal pay, pregnant workers, and gun violence. We also need your input on which issues are most important for you so we can create our "Mom Platform" as we head into the next presidential election. Please scroll down, take action, and share with family and friends, too. Thank you for all you do, and here's the list => 1. Your Input Needed! What issues should Presidential candidates prioritize?
Your Action Status: NOT YET SHARED -> Share Now
BACKGROUND: You know. Moms know. We all know what's happening in our families, our lives, and our communities. We know we're not alone. We know the truth about dealing with our healthcare system, about the cost of childcare, about what it takes to raise a family. The candidates for President need to know our truth too. It's time to put our truth on center stage. There are dozens of candidates running for President — and it's critically important to let each of them know EARLY about the policies that moms expect them to champion. They need to know what issues moms, not just corporate lobbyists, prioritize. That's why we're creating a "Mom Platform: Mom Crafted, Mom Approved" policies platform that we'll be giving to every candidate for President. And by "Mom Crafted" we mean YOU!
Your Action Status: NOT YET ADDED YOUR NAME -> Add Your Name
BACKGROUND: June 10th was Moms' Equal Pay Day, marking the fact that moms – across race and ethnicity – must work until June 10th of 2019 to earn what dads made in 2018 alone. Of course, averages alone don't tell the whole story because, due to structural racism, moms of color face much larger wage gaps when compared separately. June 10th is also the 56th anniversary of the Equal Pay Act becoming law, yet we STILL don't have pay equity. That's the bad news about June 10th. BUT there's good news too: We know how to close the wage gap! *Tell your U.S. Senators: Pass the Paycheck Fairness Act and support paid sick days, paid family and medical leave, and affordable childcare!
3. Pregnant Workers Still Face Discrimination on the Job. Let's fix this with the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act!
Your Action Status: NOT YET SIGNED -> Sign Now
BACKGROUND: Discrimination is the last thing you should have to worry about when you're pregnant, but even in 2019 pregnant workers are still being denied reasonable, medically-necessary accommodations at work (like extra water breaks or being able to sit down) because of loopholes in the 35 year-old Pregnancy Discrimination Act. The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act would make it unmistakable: Employers must provide reasonable accommodations to pregnant workers who need them. Tell your U.S. Representative to support the *BIPARTISAN* Pregnant Workers Fairness Act!
Your Action Status: NOT YET SIGNED -> Sign Now BACKGROUND: Our hearts are broken with the victims and the families of the Virginia Beach shooting. More than 1,000 Virginians on average die from gun violence every year in the Commonwealth. Yet Virginia lawmakers have taken zero recent action to improve gun safety. The Republican majority in the Virginia General Assembly have blocked every effort to address gun violence in the Commonwealth, including killing a bill to ban sales of large-capacity magazines. Join us in saying SHAME — and in urging them to take action for gun safety at the next legislative session! 5. Tell Your U.S. Senators to Reauthorize the 2019 Violence Against Women Act Your Action Status: NOT YET SIGNED -> Sign Now BACKGROUND: The U.S. House of Representatives voted to reauthorize the landmark Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Now it's the U.S. Senate's turn. VAWA 2019 makes modest but important improvements to the original landmark legislation that passed in 1994, that has since provided a lifeline to tens of thousands of women experiencing abuse. VAWA 2019 closes the "boyfriend loophole" that would deny violent dating partners and stalkers access to firearms. It also provides important tools to law enforcement officers to help them better enforce existing law. Sign on to tell your U.S. Senator to reauthorize VAWA! Thank you for all you do, - Karen, Kristin, Gloria, Anita, Sara, Sue Anne, and the rest of the MomsRising.org / MamásConPoder.org Team P.S. This list is also on our website. Please share with family and friends so they can take action, too. Thanks!

Things that drive us crazy, a promotion for Ken Cuccinelli, overregulation of the internet, and more...
Robert– You know what drives us crazy? Attacks on the First Amendment, which seem to be everywhere - on college campuses, on social platforms, etc. This week, Project Veritas revealed that Pinterest has joined other tech giants in shadow-banning conservatives and labelling their content "pornographic," "sensitive" and "harmful." And now, Pinterest has banned Live Action, while other tech companies are censoring Project Veritas' story about... tech companies censoring conservatives. These companies are abusing their power and deliberately discriminating against conservatives - most likely to affect the 2020 election, and it's got to stop.
Thanks to groups like Project Veritas, the rotten core and malevolent intent of these Silicon Valley giants has been revealed. However, a frightening trend in America's overall culture of promoting censorship and trampling free speech rights is metastasizing. Conservatives have a responsibility to reign in the liberal radicalization threatening our engrained constitutional rights. Conservatives must act now before it's too late.
We hope you got a chance to take part in our nationwide flag waving event! Don't forget to post your pictures on social media using #FlagDay. Happy Birthday, Old Glory!
Former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has been appointed to the position of Acting Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services this week. We strongly support his new role, particularly at a time when our border is in crisis. We hope that in his new position, he will work to secure the border and apply the rule of law.
One year ago this week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reversed the Obama-era "net neutrality" policy which essentially allowed the government to regulate the Internet. "Net neutrality" had a nice ring to it, just as "fairness" and "equality" do. Why would you want "net neutrality?" In reality, net neutrality regulations gave the FCC the ability to shape "media policy, social policy, oversight of the political process, [and] issues of free speech." It was an over-reaching, antiquated and burdensome policy. Jenny Beth Martin wrote an op-ed in Breitbart explaining that without the government regulating it, the Internet can be a competitive, open and innovative tool. When the government gets out of the way, the free market can thrive and that's one thing the Trump administration understands. Leave it to the absolute mess that is the D.C. Swamp to launch spending to new heights. Thanks to unelected bureaucrats and a clueless Congress, the federal deficit is higher than its ever been. Spending is also up, to the tune of $3 trillion for the first quarter of 2019. That number is simply unheard of.... Joining the tea party movement seemed like a natural move for Regina Thomson. She was inspired and energized by the Rick Santelli rant. With her conservative beliefs, and with the uncertain political climate, she decided to join the tea party movement.... Balancing the government budget is a tough issue. How are lawmakers handling it? By coming up with unnecessary projects to increase more spending, of course. The Hill has the details:... Once again, California puts the interest of illegal immigrants over its own citizens. The state will become the first state in the country to pay for illegal immigrants to have full health benefits. California's Medicaid, "Medi-Cal," will pay for tens of thousands of illegal immigrants with costs estimated to be about $98 million per year.... Obviously, the big news of the week on the immigration/border security front is the announcement Friday evening by President Trump that Mexico had agreed to take significant steps to shut down illegal immigration across our southern border,...
